Ethanol- Fueling the Need for Speed
The performance power of ethanol was put on display in Kansas recently during the Shift Sector Air Strip Attack car race. The top speed of 232 miles per hour came from a Dodge Viper with 2,500 horsepower running E85.
UAI Technical Director Steve Vander Griend worked with Shift Sector to help promote value of ethanol among the racers. Cars came from all across the country to participate.
UAI along with Kansas Corn and blender pump retailer Jump Start sponsored the race for the second year. Vander Griend helped educate drivers and mechanics about the octane value of ethanol. He also demonstrated how to test the ethanol content in fuel and provided phase separation bottles for them to use in the future.
